Chapter 1

One day, Liam Müller looked out his window. Outside, he saw the forest, some workmen, but the one thing that caught his eye was the rickety old bridge that had not been used for many, many years. Liam went outside, thinking he would play a quick game of football with his friends William, Vincent, and Tim. He played the game, but could not focus on the ball. His thoughts kept going back to the bridge. When the game was over, the bridge caught his eye once again. As he neared it, he could have sworn he saw it move. His curiosity got the best of him, and he went closer, and closer to the bridge. Just then, a person popped out of the viaduct.

Chapter 2

Liam was too shocked to do anything at the moment, but that shock ended, and as Liam further approached the bridge he realised that the person was completely harmless. He decided to leave the aqueduct area, and come back in another day or so. He went back home, only to find that the house was completely empty, and his father’s toy elephant collection was gone. Just then he grasped the idea that maybe the person on the bridge was only to delay him from coming back in and seeing the robber. He decided to wait for his father to come home from work to tell him the bad news about his toy elephant collection. Then he went back to the bridge.

Chapter 3

As soon as he came; the person came out again. This time Liam decided to be brave. He stepped up so that he would be face-to-face with the person — or whatever it was. The person only gave him a blank stare for what seemed like 500 years. Finally he stopped and merely said, “You are not supposed to be here, and if you are, show me your identification. Now do not say another word, and go away.” Liam sensed that this was not the time to interfere, and started for home. Just then he saw his father coming down the road. He decided to wait outside to greet him.

Chapter 4

Strangely, he didn’t stop at the house; he kept going down the street past the house. Liam followed him, and got a pause when his father’s car went into a ditch. He went to look in the window to see if it was really his father. It looked like his father — but it wasn’t. Just then he realised it: That man was an impostor, he was probably the one who stole the elephant collection, and probably someone from his gang had popped up from the bridge. His next motive was to notify the police, and he decided to follow his instinct. Halfway through walking back home to call the police, he realised that they knew he would be calling the police. He decided to find out if his hypothesis was true himself. Or really, he wanted to, but he felt he just was not brave enough. Liam was not scared of everything, but catching robbers — he felt he just couldn’t do it. He called his friends William, Vincent, and Tim, and they eagerly accepted the invitation. Liam, William, Vincent, and Tim all swiftly got onto their bicycles, and chased after the car. They watched the man pull into the parking lot of an old, abandoned supermarket, and the boys got off their bicycles, and continued to trail him into the building by foot.

Chapter 5

He stopped at what once was a supply closet, opened the door, and locked himself in. The youngsters discussed their next move. They did not want to go into the closet, because then the man would be aware of their presence, a thing that they did not want. They also considered calling the police. Also, they considered going home, since Liam’s father would be worried sick about where Liam was. What the group did not know was that Liam’s father, and mother were kidnapped. Meanwhile, in an old, deserted mansion, Liam’s parents were tied up and gagged, and the kidnapper was in the closet right before their eyes. The quartet went home to call the police, report Liam’s missing parents, and also to tell them to question the man in the closet. Soon the police arrived and talked to the man. He confessed, gave back the elephants, and told the group where Liam’s father was. They rescued his father, and everyone lived happily ever after.
